Priti NYC Nail Polish in Blue Eyed Brunette, Swatched

Earlier this week, it was gloomy and rainy here in L.A. I decided to paint my nails a cheerful color for a bit of a pick-me-up. Enter Priti NYC’s Blue Eyed Brunette. I can’t imagine why I was drawn to it.

Priti’s website calls Blue Eyed Brunette, “a ’30s inspired, semi-sheer orange designed specially for the HBO show Boardwalk Empire.”

Now, I happen to call that show Boredom Empire, but I’ve been awake enough both while watching television and in history class to know that season 1 was set in 1920. According to Wikipedia, which is always correct about everything, colored nail polish was invented in approx. 1920. Colors were naturally more muted than what’s generally on the market today.

The color is certainly the most wearable orange that this blue-eyed brunette has ever tried. The orange has more red tones than yellow, and that pinkiness certainly helps make it work on me.

Ultimately, though, it’s the sheer quality that really sets Blue Eyed Brunette apart. Because this is a jelly polish, the orange takes on this wonderfully vintage look.

This is truly a special color. I’ve had two friends spot the polish from across the room and exclaim in delight since I painted my nails.

It also reminds me of salmon sashimi.

This swatch is of two coats:

Perfect! I have been eyeing this colour of for so long but I hadn't bought it yet because I wasn't sure what the colour looked like on. I love it.
