Review: RMS Beauty "Un" Cover Up
When I embarked on this exciting journey to switch over to clean products, I read a lot of reviews about different foundations and concealers. I’d always had a hard time finding a good match for my skin with dirty brands despite the broad array of products at local counters to test. The prospect of trying to figure out clean color matches over the interwebs was incredibly daunting. I was torn between trying two well-reviewed brands: Vapour Organic Beauty and RMS Beauty. Vapour had both a broader color range as well as a good paid samples program which allowed me to color match easily, so I began using their products first.
A few weeks ago, I found a local store that carries the entire RMS Beauty line. I was able to test RMS’ concealer “Un” Cover Up in person, as well as a bunch of the brand’s other products. Spoiler alert: I now have a lot of RMS Beauty.
The base of the “Un” Cover Up concealer is coconut oil, and there are several other rich oils in it too. As a result, the product spreads easily enough to be used as a foundation if need be. The texture is very smooth and moisturizing. I was concerned that the product might slide around too much — or even slide off — my oily T-zone. It stays put. Because it’s so moisturizing, I do find that if I’m using “Un” Cover Up in more of a foundationish capacity that my skin is a little shinier than with the Vapour products.
A little of the product goes a long way, which is great because it comes in a really tiny jar. To cover one under eye circle, for example, I lightly tap my finger on the surface of the product, and then pat the picked-up concealer onto my skin. That’s enough.
The product conceals well. Because of my pallor, if I get even just a tiny blemish, my skin turns incredibly red. “Un” Cover Up is sufficient to tone the redness down and cover a small blemish.
“Un” Cover Up is sold in four shades. (Based on RMS Beauty’s tweet this morning, it seems that at least a fifth is on the way.) I tested and later purchased 11, the lightest shade. The shade range seems too limited to match a broad range of skintones, so I’m surprised at how very well 11 works for me.
In the jar, the color looks dark and very yellow. Once applied, the color blends in really well. It stays a little yellow/neutral on me, but I can use a little counteraction to the red in my pink, pink skin. The swatch to the right shows “Un” Cover Up in 11 blended [most of the way] into my skin.
I still use the Vapour products even though I like the “Un” Cover Up a lot. I seem to have fallen into a pattern of using the “Un” Cover Up sparingly on days when “I’m not wearing makeup,” and other days using the Vapour for a bit more of a deliberate face. I like having both at my disposal.
Below are thick swatches of RMS Beauty “Un” Cover Up in 11, at left, and Vapour Organic Beauty Illusionist Concealer in 010. As you can see, the color is very similar, but “Un” Cover Up is slightly darker. “Un” Cover Up also has a slightly thicker texture. In a head to head of the two concealers, Vapour works to cover blemishes better, but RMS Beauty works better at evening out unblemished skin pigmentation.

RMS Beauty “Un” Cover Up ingredients: Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Cera Alba (Beeswax), Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Tocopherol(non-GMO), Rosmarinus officinalis (Rosemary) Extract, and may contain: [+/- Titanium Dioxide CI 77891, Iron Oxides CI 77492, CI 77491, CI 77499]

You're lucky to have a store near you that carries the RMS! I'd have a lot of it too if that were the case.
Well, they carried the line, and they had testers out, but they only had one of the four things I went there intending to buy in stock. This was a couple of weeks ago, and they'd been ransacked over the holidays. I ended up ordering online.
I have been using this for about 6 months now and it is definitely something I will continue to buy. I have a lot of the rms products and they are all great.
