Review: Tata Harper Restorative Eye Cream

Once again, it’s time to Tata. The Restorative Eye Cream is the fifth step in Tata Harper’s skincare routine.

Tata’s website claims, “After several weeks of regular use this powerful eye treatment conspicuously helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines and dark shadows notably in the eye area. It leaves the whole delicate eye area appearing brighter and younger.” That’s a significant boast, and the bragging is justified

The Restorative Eye Cream is dispensed via pump. The instructions I received with my order state that one pump should be pat “around the entire eye area — upper and lower lid.” Tata’s eye cream is the first I’ve ever used with a pump dispenser. Pro-pump: the eye cream stays nice and hygenic; anti-pump: the amount dispensed is uniform and plentiful, whether I’d like it to be or not.

One pump is definitely more than enough for me to pat, cover and soothe both eyelids, my undereye circles, the skin on up to my eyebrows, etc. That’s fabulous for my night use. But for day use, way too much product is dispensed for my purposes. I have combination skin (oily in some places, dry to normal in others), and the oiliest patches of skin on my face are my eyelids. Makeup already slides off my eyelids faster than I’d like (yes, even with a hardcore primer), so the last thing I need is to put the incredibly moisturizing Restorative Eye Cream on my eyelid a few minutes before I apply eyeshadow. I end up putting excess eye cream on, say, my neck in the morning. My neck is really soft now. I would prefer if the Restorative Eye Cream came in a jar, but I’ll cope.

That was the only negative thing I have to say about this eye cream.

Instantly after I apply the Restorative Eye Cream, my under eye circles start to brighten and all of the skin around my eyes starts tightening. This is tightening in a good, youthful appearance way, not a gross, botoxy way. The tiny wrinkles at the inside corners of my eyes smooth. The skin around my eyes feels comfortable and supple throughout the day.

Now, any eye cream worth its salt should give you these effects, but Tata does more. The Restorative Eye Cream earns its price point by improving the quality of the skin around your eyes over time. My under eye circles have lightened considerably in the weeks since I started using this eye cream. I have actually left my house on a few occasions without bothering to throw any concealer under my eyes, and that’s totally new for me. Generally, my eyes — and the skin around them, and my face in general — look healthier, brighter, prettier, etc.

I want to be very clear with you: If you shell out for only one Tata Harper product, make it the Restorative Eye Cream.
